Desiree Nelson - University student

Desiree NelsonDesiree attends mass at St. Thomas More College, where she was welcomed into the Catholic family at the Easter Vigil in 2007. As a convert to the Catholic faith, to her Catholicism represents being a part of a family of faith that is bigger than her own faith and even the faith of her regular Sunday community.

This was realized even more fully for her in May of 2009 when she was privileged to be a representative of the Diocese of Saskatoon to attend the Eucharistic Congress Youth Summit in Quebec City. She found it to be an unforgettable experience that she was blessed to share with four amazing people from our Diocese and almost 500 others from across Canada. Seeing 500 young people from across Canada enthusiastic about their faith was inspiring and uplifting. Desiree made many new friends, including the four people that she traveled with. Despite language barriers, they shared many experiences (including plane delays), but ended up with many unforgettable memories and non-stop laughter.

Desiree's hopeDesiree's hope is that the youth of our Diocese can experience a national conference focused on the Eucharist. Her prayer is that we are able to bring the Youth Summit to Saskatoon in the near future. As she learned on that May long weekend: We are all able to change the world, one person at a time. Be the light of Christ!
