CATECHETICAL PROGRAMS
The following catechetical programs are authorized for use in the Diocese of Saskatoon:
Born of the Spirit
Grades 1 - 10
Published by the Catholic Conference of Bishops - Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
This program offers a thematical, sequential approach to catechesis. It refers to the Catechism of the Catholic Church and in its newest revisions to the General Directory for Cathechesis. This national program should be used in all parishes. Earlier editions of the Born of the Spirit program may also be used.

This program offers catechesis based on the Sunday Lectionary. This program makes reference to the Catechism of the Catholic Church and the General Directory for Catechesis.
This program may be used in parishes where the number of children to be catechized is small. Consultation with the Dioocesan Office for Rural Catechetics is required.

On Our Way With Jesus

This program, based on the RCIC, is the authorized program for initiating children of the Diocese into the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Eucharist.
Written by Berube, Berube, and Lachance, the program consists of a Leader's Guide, We Discover God's Paths, and we Share in the Eucharist. A video is also available.
Diocesan co-ordinators created The Catechist Companion, to augment Berube's books, for catechesis at the parish level. Catechists will discover them great resources to deepen the experience of the children being initiated into these sacraments.
Journey to Confirmation

This program is designed to offer students in Grade 6, 7, and 8 a comprehensive catechesis on the Sacrament of Confirmation. The Parent/Candidate gatherings and parish involvement provide an initiatory approach to the Sacrament. This program consists of a Parent Guide, a Teacher's Guide, and a Student Book.
Other programs may be used in consultation with the Rural Catechetics Office.
