"Growing in our baptized, confirmed, Eucharistic identity is a life-long task"
-Bishop Albert LeGatt.
The restored order of initiation sacraments in our diocese has children completing their initiation into our faith community and our parishes with the celebration of Confirmation and First Communion around the age of seven.
This beginning invites the celebration of new steps in our faith journey. As the first 'step' in this process, Bishop Albert is inviting young people around the Grade 8 level to celebrate a reaffirmation of faith and parishes to affirm and support this 'step' in the faith formation of their young people.

The components of the Steps in Faith program mirror the components of the parish preparation for and celebration of Confirmation with adolescents prior to the implementation of the restored order of initiation.
They include:
- Catechesis
- Retreat experience
- Justice/Service projects
- Parish involvement
- Parish celebrations to mark the beginning (rite of enrolment) and conclusion of the process (reaffirmation of faith)
The Steps in Faith program is focused on the Creed. This reflects the content of the Born of the Spirit program for Grades 7 and 8 which is recommended by the Bishops of Canada and used in the Catholic Schools and a number of parishes in our Diocese.
