Social Justice
Responsibility and Accountability

This is a commission of the Bishop of Saskatoon and as such shall be responsible to him.

Main Objectives

  • to promote education in social justice particularly in parish communities.
  • to be responsible for the organization and implementation of various workshops, programs and conferences in the Diocese of Saskatoon.
  • to offer advice and make recommendations regarding social justice events in the diocese.
  • to ensure continuity and to provide regular evaluation of the present needs in social justice in order to determine future directions.
  • to provide periodically a written report and verbal presentation to the bishop and Council of Priests.
  • to provide support and greater co-operation among all who support social justice in the diocese.
  • to act as a liaison between the people of the diocese and the larger, including ecumenical, bodies involved in social justice, such as Inner City Ministry, Rural Life Ministry.
  • to study and promote the significance of social justice in the liturgical life of the church.
  • to evaluate and respond to the challenges of inculturation as related to social justice specific to the Diocese of Saskatoon (e.g. native people)
