SaskCath Youth Ministry Training Series
Sponsored by the Youth Offices of the Dioceses of Prince Albert, Regina, Saskatoon & the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of Saskatoon. SaskCath is our answer to the demand for hands on practical training to leaders in youth ministry in Saskatchewan. With a heart for collaboration and pooling resources, SaskCath jointly plans and offers workshops throughout the province 2-4 times per year. Topics are on youth ministry need-driven issues for adult leaders.

Building a Youth Friendly Community.

This time we will focus on building a youth friendly community. But what does youth friendly mean exactly? Over the course of thisworkshop day, your Diocesan Directors in Youth Ministry will address the topic of developing a youth friendly community by:

  1. Learn - basics of ym & painting the picture
  2. Reflect - is your community youth friendly?
  3. Involve - who do you need to involve?
  4. Respond - research, organize, and 5 strategies of effective response.

WCACYM Annual Gathering

Networking , News , Parents , Resource , Training , WCACYM , Youth Ministry No Comments »

The Western Canadian Association of Catholic Youth Ministers (WCACYM) has an annual gathering every year in January. It is in Calgary this coming year (Jan 12-15th) and I'm going! (as I'm vice-chairperson and need to run the business meeting... its also a fabulous time!)

I would love to take a few others with me and caravan or fly down together to experience it! Miles Meyers is a phenomenal presenter; having taken 2 courses of my youth ministry certificate with him. Also the community and sharing of wisdom and experience of 30-50 youth workers across western Canada is an invaluable experience.

Please talk to your parishes if you're interested and able to see if they're willing to pay for all or part of your trip. Especially if you're a paid youth worker, there is a constant need for professional development that you should be supported in seeking out.

Finally, the Diocesan Education of Laity fund is something you probably could apply for to fund part of your expenses as well. Lastly, never overlook your local CWL and KofC councils for support.

Peace!

Colm
